"TOSHIFICO YOKOHAMA"
Takamiy Legend of Fantasia 2013 雷神 -raizin-
Pacifico Yokohama, August 24-25, 2013

I was able to attend Takamiy's tour final in August at Pacifico Yokohama. Since he is from hereon ending his second period of solo work and focusing on THE ALFEE's 40th debut anniversary activities, seeing his last solo lives was an absolute must!! It was a two day event.

I had to work both days in a row, so as soon as I was let go, I hurried to my train to meet Carol at the Minato Mirai station area. Carol is the first Takamiy fan friend that I made! We met before at THE ALFEE's Tokyo NHK Hall performances, so it was wonderful to see her again.

We met up about an hour before the doors of the concert hall would open and went together to Takamiy's Special Clothing Exhibition that was being held at another area of Pacifico Yokohama. Many of his beautiful stage outfits were there on display! Unfortunately we could only take pictures of two outfits, the rest are on ALFEE MANIA's official website.

After that, we headed to the live house for tour goods and to find our seats. Our seats were SO close to the stage, I was shocked!! At THE ALFEE concerts I attended, I always felt I was miles away from the stage, and could hardly see any detail of the members. This time they were so clear… it was wonderful to see Takamiy so close!

The stage set was beautiful. There was side framing of what looked like smoke swirls or clouds, along with a lot of Samurai-looking decoration and backdrop. The live started with traditional Japanese sounding music (flutes, drums), during which time the members of Takamiy's "Prince Alliance" came on stage; Luke Takamura from CANTA on electric guitar, Koji from ALvino on electric guitar, Anchang from Sex Machineguns on electric guitar, Ken'ichi from Loka on drums, Toshiki Oomomo on electric bass, and Tadasuke on keyboards. They riled up the audience until finally a door in the middle of the stage opened and there was Takamiy!!!! He was wearing a traditional Japanese patterned long vest and matching pants, along with a purple cape of a thin material that flowed behind him when he moved. Once everyone was settled on stage, the music began.

The first three songs played on both days were Ougon Ryuou, Tsukihime, and Yozakura Oshichi. After that, there was an MC, the content of which I'm having a hard time remembering. I'm pretty sure it was just an introduction of the members and a welcoming to the concert.

There were songs played from all parts of his solo career, including ISM, which made me extremely happy!! There were points where they just played guitar together, and on both days, Takamiy introduced the members one by one at some point, and played a song with each one.

On both days he played Edge of The Moonlight, which is apparently a pretty rare song for him to play live because on ISM it was originally a duet with a woman, sung completely in English. This time he sang it by himself and added some Japanese, but as for me, I was deeply touched. He's singing in my language!!! I thought, hahaha. After that song, he talked about how he should have had someone singing with him, and suggested Koji to sing the girl part, haha.

He performed the new song from the movie he provided a character voice in, Garasu no Kamen Desu ga. Before it was played, he talked about how he went to do the voice recording and what he thought was just a practice run was the actual recording. Takamiy mentioned he was disappointed he didn't get to do more!! After that he sort of sighed and said, "Well, the song is pretty great," and started playing it, hahaha. さすがたかみー♡

After performing Kindan no Hate, he welcomed guest electric guitarist Marty Friedman onto the stage! Marty does a lot of stuff on Takamiy's metal albums, so for Takamiy fans he is a familiar face, but it was the first time for me to see him in person! I thought, "Oh my God… I'm not the only foreigner in here anymore!" Once Marty came on stage, both days Takamiy asked him "What is 'kindan' in English?" I wanted to yell out, "Prohibition!!" on the first day, but finally Marty figured it out -- prohibited, forbidden, etc. The image of "forbidden love" is within the song, but "End of Forbidden" isn't grammatically correct, so the song's English title has to be "End of Prohibition". Marty riled up the crowd yelling things like, "Let's spend the evening in forbidden love!!" and stuff like that. Takamiy would laugh and wave his hand going, "No no, its not a good thing, its not a good thing!!"

Once Marty Friedman was on stage, they played several songs from the new album, Samurai Basara, Arashi Gaoka, Raijin no Gotoku and from Fantasia, Eden no Kimi.

After that, everyone went off stage. Immediately, everyone started yelling for an encore until they all came back onstage. This time Takamiy was in a different outfit, mostly black. Just he and Marty came back on stage and began to play Techno Glamorous, which was pretty awesome live. Ken'ichi had a long drum solo during it.

Once the song was finished, he took time to introduce each member and ask them something interesting that happened to them on tour. Apparently Luke had an experience where he felt there was a demonic presence near him!! I don't remember what Koji and Anchang said, unfortunately. However, on the second day, Takamiy said that Koji and Anchang were like a manzai (comedic) duo. He asked Koji, "Do you hate Anchang?" and Koji started to talk about how whenever Anchang was talking about something that interested him (like fishing), he would get super into explaining it and try to keep Koji's attention, but when Koji wanted to talk about something he liked, Anchang would just respond with "Uh huh, uh huh," like he wasn't really listening. When Takamiy asked Anchang if he hated Koji, he very bluntly said, "Oh yeah I hate this guy." Hahaha. Of course, they were kidding, and as Takamiy said, they were just like manzai!!

Takamiy asked Anchang if he would teach him how to fish and Anchang started cracking up and said, "I don't think it would suit you."

After the introductions were over, they started playing Fantastic Love Metal, which is a metal version of the song Fantastic Love, which Takamiy wrote to promote Fanta beverages in Japan. The long, black vest that he wore suddenly lit up with small neon lights along the back and changed colors! He danced and twirled around the stage and showed off the vest throughout the whole song, since he wasn't playing the guitar for it.

Once that song was over, he ran off stage and took the vest off, and then they sang the Ultra Seven song (I believe because Ultra Seven is Takamiy's favorite) and Ultramen came on stage!!! On the first day, it was just Ultraman Zero, but on the second day, Ultraman and Ultra Seven came out as well -- and as a special treat to Takamiy, Ultraman Ginga made an appearance!! After they were on stage, ULTRA STEEL began.

On the first day, with just Ultraman Zero, there was another special guest -- Miyano Mamoru! Miyano is also Ultraman Zero's voice actor, and Takamiy just got a new guitar modeled after Ultraman Zero's outfit. To show off, Miyano did the voice acting for Ultraman Zero, who acted accordingly with what he was saying! After that, they began to play Legend of Galaxy ~Ginga no Hasha~, with Miyano on guest vocals (like on the album). He was SO cute live!! He smiled a lot and really got into the song. On the second day, Takamiy just sang by himself, but during both days, the Ultramen would run around the stage and make poses throughout both ULTRA STEEL and Legend of Galaxy.

After the Ultramen (and Miyano) went off stage, Takamiy said that he'd been considering old ALFEE songs and making them metal, so… he played a song we all know and love, but… a metal version!? It took me a moment to figure it out -- LOVE LETTER!! Anchang sang with him and it turned out to be an amazing version of one of my favorite ALFEE songs!!

Then came the song I think everyone was really waiting for… all of the members took up Angel guitars and started playing -- Souon Obasan vs. Kouon Ojisan!!! It's SUCH a fun song live!! During the intro, suddenly from overhead there was a loud explosion and gold streamers started raining down over the audience! I caught a whole bunch on the first day, because I was so close to the stage! They all say the name of the tour. Since this song is so much fun, the members dragged it out so we could continue to enjoy it.

Sadly they went off stage again after this, and immediately the scream for encores started. Takamiy came out on stage again and started talking about how he recently attended a class reunion and people were pulling at his hair asking if it was real or fake, lol. Well, it had apparently gotten him thinking about those days in the past, so the next song he performed was another from ISM, 17 no Toki ni Aitakatta. After that, he played Kodoku na Rudy Boy, another song that apparently reminds him of those days. On the first day, this was sadly the last song, and he went off stage after that.

On the second day, we all screamed for encore until he came back. Takamiy talked about the past years with his solo project and had decided to play another ISM song for the final encore. He played Song For You and made EVERYONE cry. However, after that, he got our spirits up again by playing Raijin no Gotoku a second time.

Overall, it was a wonderful two days, so heartfelt and so much fun. It was such an exciting experience to have a great seat on the first day so that I could see him up close. I'm sure all of us there were so sad to hear the final song, and wanted it to last all night. I hope that in the future, he resumes his solo activities. Takamiy, I'm waiting to hear 逢いたくて sung live!
